Rutgers has used ACEGI internally in several projects (since version .6 or thereabouts) with great success -- it's definitely a winner. uPortal 3 (take 2) will likely explore basing it's security architecture around it -- it's pretty compelling to be able to pick up all the integrations and the nice architectural features, esp. using one unified security framework across all your app tiers.

Spring Modules has a declarative caching project that's sexy as all get out too.
